Weekly Market Watch: Trading the Future

We can’t predict the future, but we can trade on it!

Let’s take a closer look at each market as of October to see the blue chip favorites, some value teams, and a couple small cap longshots.

🏈 NFL SB Winner: With their road victory over Kansas City, the Bills are the clear favorite to win it all, trading at $24 per contract. There’s some value in last year’s Super Bowl participants with the Rams ($4) and Bengals ($3) both trading at single digits. As for longshots, the Giants and Jets both have strong records but are trading at $1.6 and $1.3 respectively. Lots of potential to see teams rise in value, if they are playoff contenders, and then sell in January.

⚾️ MLB World Series Winner: After sweeping the Mariners, the Astros are massive favorites at $38.5 per contract. After that, take your pick among the remaining three squads (Phillies, Yankees, and Padres) who are all trading at between $25.5 and $16. With the Astros so heavily favored, they present a shorting opportunity as well if you’d like to buy the field.

🏀 NBA Championship Winner: The defending champion Warriors opened the season as the favorites on Sporttrade, trading at $13.50. Look for value in the Denver Nuggets ($6) and Memphis Grizzlies ($4), who sport two of the best offenses in the NBA. As a longshot, the Atlanta Hawks ($2) are just two seasons removed from a surprise trip to the Eastern Conference Finals and acquired Dejonte Murray to team up with Trae Young. If the pairing clicks quickly, they could be fast risers in the East.

🏒 NHL Stanley Cup Champion: The Colorado Avalanche open the year up as favorites to defend their Stanley Cup title, trading at $18 per contract. After a great run to the Eastern Conference Finals with one of the best goalkeepers in the game, the New York Rangers present some value at just $5.5 per contract. If you’re looking for a longshot, the New Jersey Devils are priced at just $1.5 and sport a plucky young team led by Jack Hughes and an up-and-coming roster.

⚽️ World Cup Champions: The Winter World Cup is nearly upon us. The favorite on Sporttrade is Brazil ($18.5), which is looking to become the first non-European squad to win it all since 2002 when they won it last. Germany always has a strong chance to contend and presents some value at $8.5 per contract on Sporttrade. If you want to wager on a Cinderella, the United States are trading at just $0.6. If they can make it out of the Group Stage, the value could jump up quickly.
